Folate status in pregnancy is a critical factor in suitable fetal development and women health. Due to the inability to properly process folic acid and food folates, some pregnant women with MTHFR gene polymorphisms have an increased risk to develop deleterious defects. Supplementation with L-Methyl Folate may be the best option to avoid blood folate deficiencies and guarantee the right percentage amount of L-methylfolate in fetal blood as it provides the “natural” and “bioactive” dose of folate, without metabolization by MTHFR.

• Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 might play a role in the prevention of pre-eclampsia and possibly preterm birth.
